The 2009 event: EMO® MILANO 2009
5-10 October 2009
Record international attendance rate
The “machine tool world exhibition” promoted by CECIMO, European Committee for the Co-operation among Machine Tool Industries, was hosted on 5-10 October 2009 in Milan, the busiest and, at the same time, the most fashionable among the Italian cities, which offered this time an extraordinary novelty to the protagonists of the exhibition: the state-of-the-art exhibition centre fieramilano.
Mr. Pier Luigi Streparava (Italy) appointed by CECIMO, held the position of General Commissioner of EMO® MILANO 2009.
During the six days of the exhibition, the organisers registered 124,660 visitors, representing 99 countries from five continents. The impressive foreign attendance, representing 41% of the total, attested to the international character that has traditionally distinguished EMO MILANO.
See the final Press Release by UCIMU for further information about the event.
A state-of-the art exhibition centre for EMO Milano
EMO Milano was hosted for the first time in the ultra-modern exhibition centre of firamilano. Record sizes, a total space usability, very advanced technological facilities, exceptional ”liveableness”: the new “Fiera Milano” fairground, capable of redefining the world exhibiting standards, warrants, for EMO® MILANO 2009, operating conditions that are adequate to the importance and to the prestige of the event and of the enterprises that are its protagonists. A result of the innovative project signed by Massimiliano Fuksas, the fairground has eight pavilions (two of them are two-storied). The pavilions are practically without any pillars or structural encumbrances, in order to ensure extraordinary accessibility and visibility to all booths.
Each pavilion (covering a surface of about 37,000 sq. m), has reception desks, bars and restaurants, conference rooms and office areas.
It is possible to enter the pavilions not only from the central avenue, but also from the elevated tunnel, walking under shelter, in an air-conditioned room.

New technology-assisted services for operators
Coordinated and constant promotion and communication activity was flanked - for everyone interested in attending EMO® MILANO 2009 - by a series of services designed to facilitate and valorise attendance at the event.
These included an on-line pre-registration service ensuring immediate accreditation for the event to streamline “traffic” at reception desks - that in any case are more than sufficient to ensure trouble-free access by to the venue of EMO® MILANO 2009. When such registration was confirmed, visitors could receive the Golden Card, the entrance badge offering interesting advantages to operators for their stays in Milan.
The extraordinary impact of the event was matched by special parking facilities and connection services (buses, trains, helicopters) between the exhibition centre and airports, railway stations and the centre of Milan - a metropolis with a natural vocation for welcoming guests from all over the world.
