Swissmem - Skills Initiatives
Swissmem’s activities related to skills development are the following:
MEM Passerelle 4.0 – founded in 2020 by SWISSMEM and other social partners – offers training programs for companies and invividuals into the MEM industries (mechanical, electrical and metal industry).
SWISSMEM Academy – a training and consulting centre of Swissmem, which provides tailored-made training pogrammes (courses, seminars and in-house courses) for specialists and managers from industry.

Developing Young Talent – SWISSMEM actively supports the campaign for education in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
- Also, Swissmem co-sponsors the Faszination Technik (fascinating technology) marketing platform, which organizes experiences at careers fairs and skills championships for working in the MEM environment.
- find-your-future careers platform is aimed at young people, students, anyone interested in further training, and people looking for jobs in the sector. The platform lists all vacant apprentice positions in the MEM industries, provides a full overview of training courses in the world of technology, and links to vacancies at Swissmem member companies.
Reintegration: SWISSMEM is member of the Compasso association to help employers to integrate employees with disabilities.
Reconciling work and family life – Swissmem pursues to attract more women to the MEM industries and make it easier to balance work and family life.
Organises technology days for girls or “Meitli-Techniktage”, each year, giving to school students aged 13 to 15 insights into the technical professions.
