Dear readers,

We are pleased to be back with another edition of the CECIMO newsletter. The last 3 months have been eventful for us, to say the least, as we have been busy with the preparation of EMO Milano 2021, the largest international trade show for the machine tools industry. We also published our new Economic and Statistical Toolbox for the 2nd quarter of 2021, which announces a steady recovery for our sector.

Moreover, there have been significant policy developments in CECIMO’s technical department over recent weeks, as the European Union (EU) has resumed its legislative work on the Revision of the Machinery Directive, a key piece of legislation for our sector.

EMO MILANO 2021 IN NUMBERS

EMO Milano 2021 took place at fieramilano Rho from 4 to 9 October, turning this venue into the biggest digital factory ever set up within an exhibition fairground.

Luigi Galdabini,General Commissioner of EMO MILANO 2021, said: "The data about the event confirms the value of EMO, which is considered a reference event for the global manufacturers of machine tools, robots and automation systems".

EVENTS ORGANISED BY CECIMO AT EMO MILANO 2021

For this edition of EU POLICY TALKS, we gathered important stakeholders from the industry and we organised a guided tour which allowed participants to visit a variety of companies that were exhibiting innovative solutions at EMO such as Fagor Automation, Framag, umati, Ficep, Renishaw and Omera.

THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Additive manufacturing has a strategic role in this new manufacturing era, allowing companies to achieve unique capabilities and new workflow processes. The conference focused on how new hybrid solutions can combine additive manufacturing with regular manufacturing methods to score high marks in agility, flexibility and level of productivity.

CECIMO'S SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT

In cooperation with an external communication agency, CECIMO developed a short documentary movie in order to raise awareness on how our sector contributes to the circular economy through different actions aiming at improving the performance of its products, developing and implementing new technologies. The movie aims to promote a prominent role of manufacturing in the transition to a more sustainable world.

BILATERAL MEETING WITH AMT-THE ASSOCIATION FOR MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY

During  EMO Milano, CECIMO held a bilateral meeting with our long-term partner AMT - The Association for Manufacturing Technology (US). After a very difficult year and a significant impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the machine tool industry, we finally had the opportunity to discuss in person relevant and important topics concerning our sectors.

CECIMO PRESS CONFERENCE AT EMO MILAN 2021

The press conference organised together with UCIMU provided data about the exhibition and unpublished information on the recovery of the Machine Tools sector. The President of CECIMO, Dr Schneeberger highlighted: “I believe that EMO Milan 2021 will stimulate investments and that it will have an impact on the growth of the various sectors of European and global industry.”
