CECIMO AT EMO HANNOVER 2023

EMO Hannover 2023 was a major highlight of the year, and the show exceeded all expectations. This event embodied the very essence of innovation, showcasing the latest manufacturing systems, technologies and comprehensive solutions across the manufacturing value chain.

OPENING SPEECH BY CECIMO PRESIDENT

Dr.-Ing Heinz-Jürgen Prokop, President of CECIMO, officially opened EMO Hannover 2023, highlighting the enduring legacy of EMO, the world's leading manufacturing technology exhibition, as a platform that brings together industry pioneers and innovators. His central message emphasised the critical role of innovation in addressing the various challenges facing manufacturing, from global conflicts to regulatory hurdles and skills shortages. Dr. Prokop outlined the need for policies that encourage innovation while cutting red tape. He also highlighted the huge opportunities presented by sustainability, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, which are driving the industry towards a future of smarter, more efficient and greener production. Finally, he called on all EMO 2023 exhibitors and attendees to embrace change and new ideas to shape the future of their businesses, recognising the importance of skills development and the integration of digital technology and sustainability into the industry's roadmap.

PRESS CONFERENCE

The Global Machine Tools Sector: State of Play & Tackling New Challenges

CECIMO held its press conference on 18 September, where representatives of machine tool associations gathered to demonstrate their resilience and strength in the face of a wide range of global challenges. Despite a stable outlook for 2023, forecasts for the global machine tool industry are tempered by various international and economic challenges. Building on the collective strength of the sector, collaboration, innovation and adaptability will remain key as the industry continues to navigate this evolving landscape.

High-level round table on Innovative Manufacturing

CECIMO facilitated a dynamic meeting that brought together policy makers and industry stakeholders in a highly fruitful discourse on the pressing challenges facing our industry. During this collaborative event, participants seized the opportunity to exchange invaluable insights and ideas on emerging trends, technological advances and policy frameworks that will shape the future of manufacturing. The event was followed by a guided tour of innovative companies displaying their technologies.

The International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ICAM) served as a platform for engaging discussions centered around the Industrialisation of the Additive Manufacturing sector. Industry pioneers explored the latest advancements, innovations, and strategies driving the industrialisation of additive manufacturing.

Redefining Manufacturing: Showcasing EU-funded initiatives in Agile Production

The manufacturing industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by advancements in agile production and robotics technologies. This conference served as a platform to showcase the invaluable contribution of EU-funded projects in driving innovation and revolutionising the manufacturing landscape.

INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS

Over four days spent at EMO Hannover, we've had incredibly productive bilateral meetings with machine tools associations from around the world, including the USA, Japan, China, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Argentina, Australia, and Brazil. These meetings provided an excellent opportunity to exchange vital information about the machine tool sector and our respective associations. These discussions will pave the way for future partnerships and advancements in our field, transcending geographical boundaries and emphasizing our shared commitment to progress.

CECIMO also hosted an International General Managers' Meeting at EMO Hannover, providing a platform for a robust exchange of views on global economic and trade issues in our sector. During the gathering, our General Managers revelaed the latest economic figures and current regional scenarios.

Moreover, the International Technical Managers Meeting brought together the world's technical experts to exchange views and address some of the key challenges facing our industry. It also provided a platform to share priorities for the period ahead and examine the evolving regulatory landscape affecting our industry. With the ever-evolving digital transformation of our industry and the increasing interest in regulating this transformation, the discussion focused on the following topics: regulatory flexibility, data sharing, cybersecurity, and AI.

EU Industry Days 2023

CECIMO will co-host the event during the EU Industry Days 2023 in Malaga, entitled ‘’Innovation in European Manufacturing: Leading the Way to Sustainable Competitiveness, Circularity & Net Zero Emissions’’ which will take place on 4 October from 17. 45 to 18.45. Co-organised by CECIMO, EFFRA and Vanguard Initiative, the event aims to highlight the key role of European manufacturing and promote innovation in the sector.

CECIMO is co-organising event entitled ‘’The Artificial Intelligence Act – Building Trust in EU Innovation’’, taking place on 10 October from 15.00 to 17.30.
