Industry calls on the EU legislators to respect NLF principles in the Artificial Intelligence Act

While horizontal, the NLF represents a blueprint for a range of product legislation. CECIMO co-signed the joint statement supporting the incorporation of the NLF concepts into the AI Act. Therefore, when creating an additional layer of AI specific requirements, it has to be ensured that the implementation of the AI Act is being done coherently in the product-specific legislation.

EMO Hannover 2023 – Registration now open

Invitations and registration forms for EMO Hannover 2023 are currently being sent out to around 60 countries. After a four-year break, the world's leading trade fair for production technology will be opening its doors again in Germany in 2023. The new concept, new claim, new exhibition area, new formats and key topics of the new-look event will bring a breath of fresh air to the industry.

CECIMO released a new Annual Report for 2021. It reflects the annual figures and includes detailed data on production, orders and trade in CECIMO countries. In addition, this report will give you an overview of CECIMO’s share of global MT production, as well as most important trading partners.

VDW-Germany

The VDW speaks for the German machine tool industry. In 2016, it celebrated its 125th anniversary. Together with the Sector Association Machine Tools and Manufacturing Systems within the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) the VDW comprises some 300 predominantly mid-tier companies. They account for approximately 90 per cent of the sector’s total turnover, which almost reached 12.7 billion euros in 2021.

MIB-Türkiye 

Turkish Machine Manufacturers Association (Makina İmalatçıları Birliği, MİB) is a non-governmental organization representing machine manufacturing industry and nearly 200 Turkish firms which manufactures machines and machine parts. MİB also sustains to be an umbrella organization over all the sub-sectors of machine manufacturing.
EU PROJECTS UPDATES

SAM Project will end in June 2023 and the architecture of the Qualification System will be managed by EWF after the end of the activities foreseen. On the 20th of October there will be the Final SAM Conference in Lisbon (PT), organised by EWF. SAM is launching its last course: the European course for Metal AM Coordinators, starting in October and finishing in May next year. For this initial phase, only internal employees from the project’s partners can take the course. However, the structure of the course will likely remain similar when the subscriptions will be open.

After a spring full of events that have seen TRINITY's participation in ERF22 and IndTech2022, the next months will be focused on finalising the last activities, disseminating results, and expanding Trinity's reach through the onboarding of new interested organisations. In August, the second round of demonstration programs came to an end with significant results achieved by the 18 demonstrators that developed their innovative solutions for agile manufacturing.

The EARASHI project kicked off in September at CEA premises in Grenoble. The project aims to improve working conditions, trust, and acceptance of collaborative embodied AI in robotic systems by supporting Industry in the uptake of advanced digital eco-responsible technologies.The consortium will launch two open calls to allow SMEs and start-ups to access technologies and test facilities from RTOs and industrial partners, business support, and mentoring thus lowering their technical and business barriers.
