Single Market Roundtable: “Making EU Industry Fit for the Future – the Strategic Importance of Standards”

CECIMO took part in the webinar on “Making EU Industry Fit for the Future – the Strategic Importance of Standards“, on 10 September 2020, hosted by the European Policy Centre. 

CECIMO's Director General Filip Geerts, together with Elena Santiago Cid, Director General, CEN and CENELEC, Joaquim Nunes de Almeida Director ‘Goods in the Single Market and Enforcement’, European Commission and Neviana Nikoloski, Chair of the ETSI General Assembly will be discussing the strategic importance of standards for the EU's new Industrial Strategy and economic recovery.

Standards are powerful tools for strengthening the Single Market and for stimulating innovation. Europe has developed a unique system of standardisation with a particular emphasis on transparency and inclusiveness. It is however currently facing several challenges and these need to be urgently and properly addressed to ensure that the EU industry is fit for the future.
