CECIMO to begin a new EU project looking into additive manufacturing’s industrialization

28 October 2016

On 8 November 2016, CECIMO will participate as project partner at the kick-off meeting of AM-Motion, an EU initiative to foster the uptake of additive manufacturing in the European industry. Funded by the EU Horizon2020 budget stream, AM-Motion will bring together leaders in application industries such as Airbus, top technology firms such as Siemens and other established stakeholders in the market. The aim will be to forge a detailed roadmap to deepen the application of this technology in current and potential application fields. Project partners will tackle challenges including mapping out the industrial additive manufacturing market, screening the technical and regulatory obstacles on its industrialization path, investigating its relationship with the Industry 4.0 megatrend and illustrating practical business collaboration models.
CECIMO will play a prominent role in contributing to the final roadmap preparation building upon its expertise on regulatory and education barriers in the deployment of additive manufacturing. It will also be a key partner to reach out to relevant actors and stakeholders in the machine tool value chains, ensuring project activities and results are well-communicated in the market and the EU industrial policy community.
AM-Motion is an EU project with a duration of two years and two months. It comprises a total of 13 partners coming from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Beyond the partners above cited, it will involve service providers such as Materialise, additive manufacturing materials producers, networks of regional stakeholders, consultancies and public as well as private R&D centres.
The project’s website will be soon available.
