Still time to sign up for the Design Challenge of Additive Industries

26 February 2016

The success of additive manufacturing applications depends on the designer’s ability to ‘design for additive manufacturing’ and maximize the possibilities offered by these new production technologies.
As a sign of continuity with the 2015 edition, CECIMO is once again partner of the Design Challenge organized by Additive Industries. Competing in two categories, both professionals and students are encouraged to redesign an existing conventional part of a machine or product for 3D printing. The winners will be announced on 23 March 2016 at the Additive World Conference, 2016 in Eindhoven.
The conference’s fourth edition will take place on 22-23 March 2016 at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven with the aim of presenting the latest on industrial additive manufacturing from a broad perspective. This year, the first day will be dedicated to science and education, where well-known experts will share their latest insights on additive manufacturing. On the second day, experienced users from all stages of the additive manufacturing process (design, simulation, production, quality control and post-processing) will come together, providing participants with a complete picture of this emerging technology and its applications.
Other partners in the Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge are leading CAE technology provider (e.g. Topology Optimization) - Altair Engineering, consumer 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker, Autodesk, and AddLab, the shared facility for 3D metal printing.
The winners in both categories will take home the latest Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer and Autodesk's NetFabb license (incl. a gift bag). The top 3 in both categories get for free one-year license of Altair’s Inspire software and a one-year subscription to Autodesk Fusion 360.  The award winning designs will also be printed in metal.
Please note that the deadline for submission is not closed yet: due to huge interest in the Additive World Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge, the deadline has been postponed from 29 February to 6 March.
