CECIMO is looking for a motivated Policy Intern to support its policy work in Brussels.

The intern will assist the CECIMO team in monitoring and analysing EU policy developments, with a particular focus on digital, technical and sustainability files relevant to the manufacturing technology sector. This includes files such as the Cyber Resilience Act, Artificial Intelligence Act, Data Act, Machinery Regulation, Standardisation Regulation, sustainability and other relevant EU industrial policy initiatives.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EU public affairs, industry representation and the EU legislative process, while working closely with European companies, national associations, EU institutions and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support the CECIMO team with:

  • monitoring EU policy and regulatory developments in the areas of digital policy, technical regulation, machinery safety, standardisation and sustainability;
  • preparing reports, minutes, presentations and policy updates for CECIMO members;
  • supporting the drafting of policy papers, consultation responses and advocacy material;
  • helping analyse the impact of EU legislation on machine tool and advanced manufacturing companies;
  • following relevant discussions in the European Commission, European Parliament and Council and helping communicate key developments to CECIMO’s technical working group
  • occasionally attending external events, conferences and stakeholder meetings on behalf of CECIMO when relevant;
  • supporting the organisation of CECIMO meetings, events and working groups;
  • contributing to other policy and administrative tasks as needed.

Profile: 

The ideal candidate should have:

  • a university degree in European Affairs, Political Science, Law, International Relations, Economics or another relevant field;
  • a strong interest in EU industrial policy, advocacy, digitalisation, technical regulation;
  • a good understanding of the EU institutions and legislative process;
  • excellent written and spoken English;
  • strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to summarise complex information clearly;
  • good organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Knowledge of EU digital legislation, machinery regulation, standardisation, sustainability policy or the manufacturing sector would be considered an asset.

Applicants must be located in Belgium at the time of application and be legally entitled to work in Belgium.
