European Machine Tools Industry asks to resume negotiations on TTIP

05 December 2016

CECIMO and its partners, in a recent letter addressed to Commissioner Malmström, asked the European Commission to continue negotiating the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with the United States of America.

CECIMO, as representative of the Machine Tools Industry at the European level, welcomes progresses made on topics such as the elimination of custom duties, but it’s keen on moving forward the following issues: regulatory cooperation, standards alignment and conformity assessment procedures. CECIMO believes that technical cooperation and regulatory convergence will boost competitiveness and productivity not only in Europe but also in USA.

The Machine Tools Industry sees the TTIP as a key and long term priority for its manufacturing. Given the current changes at the political level, involved parties should focus not only on speeding up the process but also on creating real benefits to citizens of both communities.
