EARASHI

EARASHI –EMBODIED AI/ROBOTICS APPLICATIONS FOR A SAFE, HUMAN-ORIENTED INDUSTRY In the context of the new strategic framework for Health and Safety at Work proposed by the EC in 2021 (to protect the health and safety of its 170 million workers and achieve sustained decent working conditions), EARASHI aims to improve working conditions, trust, and acceptance of collaborative embodied AI in robotic systems. This will be achieved by supporting Industry, especially start-ups, and SMEs, in the uptake of advanced digital and eco-responsible technologies (in particular AI, data, and robotics).

This approach will help employees in their daily activities and improve their working conditions, leading to a productivity increase. EARASHI adopts a worker-centric approach by considering workforce well-being and health, design thinking methodology of production machines, worker acceptance, and ethics.

Selected through two open calls, beneficiaries will get access to EARASHI leading-edge technologies and test facilities from RTOs and industrial partners, business support, mentoring by industrial pairs, support in ethics, system integration, and user acceptance, thus lowering both their technical and business barriers.

Thanks to the Financial Support to Third Parties structure, through investments in early discovery and industrial uptake of new technologies EARASHI will contribute to strengthening Europe capacities in key parts of Digital and future supply chains in the production machine.

EARASHI launched the first open call in February 2023 and will launch the second one in September to select 10 projects distributing 2M€ among them. The selected projects should address one of EARASHI’s 10 challenges defined by the EARASHI Advisory Board.

The funding instrument will include a lump-sum grant of up to 200,000 € per project for developing solutions at a demonstration scale and coaching sessions during and beyond their development. The total duration of a project is expected to be 15-18 months. The granted companies cannot individually receive more than 200,000€ and only startups and SMEs are eligible to receive such funding.

R&D demonstration projects targeting EARASHI challenges will be developed to reach Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 starting from TRL 4-5.

EARASHI started in September 2022 and will end in March 2026. CECIMO is the project responsible for communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities.
