Guidelines for Applicants

Who is eligible to apply:

Applications are welcome from any European actor (EU + UK+ EFTA + Türkiye) in the machine tool industry, such as organisations, SMEs or Large Corporations, research and/or training centres, and funded projects consortia. Please note that applications from organisations represented on the judging panel are not eligible to enter the MTI Awards competition.

Categories:

Awards will be presented in the following categories:
• MTI Awards (i.e. best solution overall) 

Sub-categories:
• Green Impact Award (i.e. projects that recognise solutions that demonstrate outstanding sustainability potential, focusing on their ability to reduce CO2 emissions, minimise material use and significantly contribute to a greener future)
• SME Excellence Award (i.e. projects that recognise the best solutions presented by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), highlighting their innovative contributions in various fields)

Selection criteria:

  • Project Specifications: Outline features, functionality, and performance criteria that the project should meet. (10 points)
  • Uniqueness of proposal: Evaluate the originality and innovation of the organisation’s proposal. (5 points)
  • Contribution to the European Industry: Explain the potential impact of the proposed innovation on the European manufacturing sector and the machine tool industry. (5 points).
  • Environmental impact: Outline the key impacts of the entire innovation project lifecycle in terms of long-term success and contribution to a sustainable future. (10 points).

The applications will be evaluated by the jury, which will award a score based on 4 criteria out of a maximum of 30 points.

How to apply:

Note: All projects must be submitted in English, no later than 2 September 2024.

Step 1: Download the PowerPoint template and fill in all slides with the required information.

Step 2: Complete the application form and attach the slides you completed in step 1 to it.

Selection Procedure and Timeline:

Applications for the awards will be open from 11 March to 2 September 2024.

Pre-selection and selection of the finalists:

After the deadline, the jury will evaluate the applications according to the selection criteria mentioned above. Please note that on the basis of the scores obtained for each of the selection criteria, 3 finalists will be nominated and invited to the CECIMO Brussels Forum and the Gala Dinner to be held on 2 December 2024.

During the CECIMO Brussels Forum, the finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects. After the presentation, the audience will vote and the winner will be announced during the gala dinner in the evening.

Awards:

The 3 winners will receive the following:

  • An invitation to participate in the CECIMO Brussels Forum
  • Participation in CECIMO Gala Dinner
  • Publication of the winning innovative project in the annual CECIMO magazine
  • Promotion on CECIMO’s social media channels
  • Free booth at EMO Hannover 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for production technology.
