CECIMO MTI Awards: Recognising Excellence in the Machine Tools Sector

The European Association for Manufacturing Technologies (CECIMO) successfully hosted the second edition of the Machine Tools Innovation (MTI) Awards on 2 December at the CECIMO Brussels Forum, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.

The MTI Awards serve as a platform to recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to the machine tool industry.

The second edition of the MTI Awards was officially opened with the keynote address by Ms. Kerstin Jorna, Director General of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs, of the European Commission. In her opening speech, Mrs Jorna called for innovative thinking and strategic alignment across all levels of governance, emphasising that the manufacturing sector must take the lead in shaping a sustainable, competitive, and resilient European economy.

In addition to the MTI Award for Best Overall Solution, the 2024 edition has introduced two new subcategories this year:  Green Impact Award - for outstanding sustainability potential and contribution to a greener future and SME Excellence Award - for the best solutions presented by small and medium-sized enterprises.

The 2024 MTI Award for Best Overall Solution was proudly awarded to AdaptX for its innovative project, "Eliminating Metalworking Fluids: A Sustainable Path to Efficient Machining." The award was accepted by the company’s co-founder, Mr. Tim Bornemann. As part of this prestigious recognition, AdaptX will have the opportunity to showcase their project at EMO Hannover 2025.

The Green Impact Award was won by Prima Additive for their project, "Metal AM for Industrial Mass Production: Flexible Robotic System for Brake Discs Coating to Enable Sustainability in Automotive." The award was accepted by Paolo Calefati, CEO of Prima Additive, while the SME Excellence Award was presented to Valcun for their project, "Deployable Metal Additive Manufacturing for Industry." The award was accepted by Jonas Galle, CEO and Co-founder of Valcun.

This competition is organised by CECIMO and officially supported by EIT Manufacturing, European Factories of the Future Research Association – EFFRA ,European Round Table for Industry – ERT and EMO Hannover 2025.

The 2025 edition of the MTI Awards will take place at EMO Hannover (22-26 September) with the competition opening for applications in January 2025. For more details and updates, visit the MTI Awards website.
