POSITION PAPER: Boosting The Competitiveness Of The Manufacturing Technology Sector in the EU

1) Recognising manufacturing technologies as a strategic priority

• Manufacturing technologies are the backbone of Europe’s industrial strength and must be fully integrated into the EU’s key strategies. Despite their critical role, they have been notably absent from major industrial policies. The Clean Industrial Deal represents a missed opportunity, as it fails to recognise the importance of manufacturing technologies in producing the clean technologies essential for Europe’s green transition and energy independence. CECIMO and other industry stakeholders have tried to warn the European Commission by sending a joint letter to Executive Vice President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Stéphane Séjourné, urging greater recognition of this sector ahead of the Clean Industrial Deal’s publication.
